Looks & Books - A Series

Looks.png

While I like adult clothing just fine, I live for baby and kid clothes. I get so much joy out of finding adorable, tiny outfits. Something about their size and dressing children like mature little people just makes my heart so happy.

Similarly, I also love books, but have a major soft spot for children’s books. I love the unifying property they have; and the wisdom, joy and wonder they impart. Curling up with kids and sharing a story together is one of my favorite indoor activities, and I hope that my kids continue to enjoy this quality time for years to come.

These two loves of mine fused together for a new series: Looks & Books. I’ve put together outfits and books in visual segments and have linked everything I can below. Those items that I could not link, I found similar items that are available.

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE outfit that Nora has ever worn. I planned on having this ready for newborn photos, but it was just too big. I felt like I had to wait an eternity for her to grow into it, and once she did fit into it, it was like two seconds before she outgrew it. She ended up wearing it while my parents were visiting and we got some sweet photos then, so we were able to make it special.

Paired with my favorite outfit, is my favorite book. This is seriously the most gorgeous book I’ve ever seen. A botanical pop-up book that explains what flowers are, how there are many varieties, & what their purpose is. The illustrations in this book are incredible and the pop-ups are extremely delicate, so it’s not exactly a baby-friendly book, but I would say it’s absolutely a keepsake.

Nora wore this sweet piece for Christmas last year, and it still remains one of my favorite outfits she’s ever worn. It’s so sweet and delicate, while also being so grown-up.

The Magic Bunny book is about a bunny who comes to life to watch over baby as they sleep. With a cute story and sweet illustrations, we highly recommended this one, especially if your little one is struggling with separation anxiety or nighttime fears.

Nora wears this outfit often, as it’s one of her warmest. While strolling the neighborhood, or hiking a trail, or just rolling around in the backyard, she stays toasty with a layer or two underneath, and she looks damn cute while doing it.

Three Snow Bears was actually part of a baby shower present we received while expecting Everett. While living in Southern California at the time, this book is actually much more relevant now that we live in Colorado.

We are big space fans around here! I ❤️ Space is all about taking an adventure around the universe with your little one. This books teaches about the different planets in our solar system, stars, asteroids and the wonders of discovery!

I’m a huge fan of girl space lovers, especially ones that can pull of such an aggressive leopard print and a big bow. STEM learning is big in our house, and Nora will be hoping on that train, right next to her brother!

This outfit has New Years Eve written all over it. In fact, this it exactly what Nora wore while celebrating the transfer to 2021. I picked up this piece at a local secondhand shop and felt like I hit the jackpot.

Forgotten Tails of Brave and Brilliant Girls was a Christmas present from my grandparents, and we’ve enjoyed it everyday since. This book is so sweet and empowering. I love reading each story to Nora, so that she knows that she is capable of great and wonderful things!

Who doesn’t love a pair of overalls on a baby? This floral chambray pair is equally cute and playful. I’m actually really bummed that Nora didn’t get to wear it more before she grew out of it.

Dear Girl is book that lifts little girls up, while reminding them they are powerful, strong and valuable. This is an absolute must have for every girl in your life.

There’s a Monster in your Book is a fun and interactive story that invites your little one into the joy of the story. While it’s not my favorite for bedtime, since it always seemed to rile Evy up, it is great for every other time of day.

A fun and girlie dress, perfect for Valentine’s Day or any other day! I love the brightness and playfulness of this outfit - it just radiates joy.

Emma is part of the “baby lit” line. While it doesn’t tell the Jane Austin story, it does use her characters. This book teaches all about emotions using colors and the classically famous characters.

The cutest, softest polka dot jumpsuit. Perfect for this mild Colorado winter we were enjoying. I’ve been getting as much use as I can out of this piece, before Nora outgrows it.

If I Were a Lamb is a sweet sensory book that explores what it would be like to be a gentle fluffy creature. My parents actually bought this book for Everett years ago, but Nora is now enjoying exploring different tactile features.

I was so excited for Nora to wear this romper, but it took a while for her to actually fit into it. I bought it before she was born and ended up having to wait 5 months to finally see her in it even though I bought the newborn size. If you grab this one, definitely size down.

Mrs. Peanuckle’s Fruit Alphabet teaches kids the ABCs while also teaching about vastly different fruits. Its colorful and fun - my kids just love it!
