Thanksgiving Evening Tradition

Now that we are a family of four, and my oldest is entering into the period of his life that he’ll actually have memory of, I’ve really begun to think about the traditions that we want to create as a family. The newest one is bundling a Christmas book, winter PJs and a Christmas ornament for each kid, given on Thanksgiving evening.

For us, Christmas has officially begun once Thanksgiving has been properly celebrated. When the turkey has been gobbled up, celebration crackers have been popped, and extended family has gone their separate ways, we are ready to jump on the Christmas train and ride it out for the next month. We typically begin to deck the halls and decorate the tree during the rest of the holiday weekend. Since our babes are still a little young to be completely involved in those activities, we’ve decided to welcome them in with their own tradition of dawning new nighttime duds, reading all about the magic of Christmas and waking up the next day to place their ornament on the tree.

This year’s winter PJs came from The Children’s Place:

So grab a pair of jam jams, a good read & an ornament your babe will love, wrap them up, and kick off Christmas once the leftovers are resting safely in the fridge.
